Distributed Power Block Enters Mass Production: Leadrive Empowers New Generation Electric Drive
2026.04.14

On April 8, the new AVATR 12 was officially launched as the first model equipped with the Taihang Smart Control 2.0 Architecture powered by Leadrive Technology’s distributed dual inverter power block. Leadrive’s customized power block supports both IGBT and SiC, covering BEV and REEV vehicle configurations. This platform-based solution will be applied to more Changan models in the future, bringing users a better travel experience.

Looking back at the project journey, it was officially launched in May 2024 and entered mass production at the end of 2025. Leadrive's distributed dual inverter power block solution empowers the electric drive system with superior technical advantages through its compact size and enhanced performance. With a compact size of 172mm×221mm×65mm, a peak efficiency of up to 99.88%, an ASIL-D distributed safety architecture, and Leadrive's advanced software function platform, the power block solution has facilitated technological breakthroughs for the Taihang Distributed Electric Drive 2.0 platform.

1、Industry-Leading Distributed Power Block Solution

Addressing the stringent space constraints of distributed electric drive architectures, the distributed power block adheres to Leadrive's platformization design philosophy. With a dual-channel peak power demand of over 2×200kW, it achieves a highly integrated design with external dimensions of 172×221×65mm (power density >200kW/L, leading the industry).

  • Compactness: Adopts a 2-in-1 drive board, SlimPACK-E power module, and stacked structure design of integrated water-channel bus capacitors. Advanced technologies such as mature laser welding processes, planar transformers, and coreless current sensors enable ultra-compact sizing and improved power density.
  •
  • Forward-looking Design: Benefiting from superior system design, thermal dissipation is greatly enhanced, supporting expansion to higher power ratings. The solution is compatible with multiple power specifications via chip switching within the same dimensional envelope, and supports dual-channel three-level topology (output power >200kW per channel × 2 channels)
  •
  • High Performance: Features an ASIL-D functional safety architecture with full fault monitoring and diagnostics at the highest safety level, and multi-channel redundant hardware design to ensure driving safety. Leadrive's independently developed control board, based on the Infineon TC397 six-core high-performance chip, meets the computing power demands of the distributed dual-electric drive platform while enabling independent operation of safety redundancy and functional cores, preventing unintended torque output.

2、SlimPACK-E Power Module

As Leadrive's next-generation power module platform solution, the SlimPACK-E delivers exceptional technical performance for the distributed power block platform thanks to its advantages in structural design, platformization, and system integration.

Structural Packaging: Compact, High-Performance and Reliable

  • Dimensions: 140×72×25mm (excluding terminals)

  • Laser-welded terminals and dual-circuit low stray inductance design: <5nH (total circuit stray inductance <15nH when integrated with the distributed power block)

Compatibility: Enabling System Platformization Design

  • Compatible with 400V/800V/1000V

  • Compatible with IGBT and SiC,covering multiple power output specifications

  • High reliability (power cycling >100k times)

System Integration Advantages: Driving Ultra-High Power Density

  • Integrated PCB fixing and holding

  • Integrated mounting and fixing for coreless current sensors

3、Advanced Software Platform

Leadrive's software platform always prioritizes end-user experience. Over the more than one-year project cycle, the team focused on the development goals of high efficiency, reliability and stability, completing iterative optimization of the software platform and innovative reuse of electric drive functions. The overall performance of the electric drive system platform has been continuously enhanced through software capabilities.

Ultra-Low Energy Consumption Solutions:

  • Full-domain variable resistance drive, overcoming hardware-defined energy efficiency limits with a peak efficiency of 99.88% (top-tier industry level);

  • Full-domain dynamic carrier frequency switching, optimizing efficiency down to the 10Nm torque level.

Safe and Reliable Software Mechanisms:

  • Dual-motor fault coordination mechanism: No breakdown in the event of a single-point failure. High-speed interconnection and coordination of dual-channel inverter information ensure stable vehicle posture even when a single-channel fault occurs at high speeds;

  • ASIL-D functional safety platform: Independent operation of functional safety cores and dual-channel redundant design eliminate unintended torque output.

User Experience Oriented Software Devlopement:

  • NVH optimization: Features closed-loop high-frequency injection noise reduction and dual-channel ripple balance control; improves NVH performance to achieve top-tier results for the electric drive system (1-meter sound pressure level of 75dBA);

  • Dual-motor information interaction: Maintains vehicle stance under extreme driving conditions through active torque intervention, enabling precise, millisecond-level torque response;

  • Electric drive system integration: Through the deep reuse of the electric drive system, software capabilities are leveraged to develop more functional requirements that improve user experience. AC pulse control of the electric drive enables rapid low-temperature heating of the battery, ensuring stable performance output in cold conditions. Motor windings and inverters are reused as boost modules to adapt to low-voltage charging piles for fast charging, solving charging pile compatibility issues. The dual-motor independent architecture supports special handling functions such as tank turn.

This in-depth cooperation with Changan is a classic example of Leadrive’s power block solution applied in high-end SiC distributed electric drive systems. In the future, Leadrive Technology will rely on its self-developed core technologies, efficient manufacturing capabilities and strict quality control system to continue providing high-quality inverter solutions for leading automakers, support the upgrading and iteration of premium new energy vehicles, and deliver safer and more comfortable mobility experiences to end users.
